Which UK Companies Offer Cancer Life Insurance For Women?

Millions of people worldwide are affected by cancer. Cancer Research UK reported that in the UK alone, more than 324,500 people received a cancer diagnosis in 2010. Many of the same cancers affect women and men but the genders also have greater tendencies for different types.

The top five common cancers for females in the UK during 2010 were bowel, breast, ovarian, uterine, and lung cancer. Women seeking financial protection against these and other cancers and female cancer patients who desire life insurance may be able to find suitable policies.

AIG Direct Cancer Cover For Females

Cancer policies, also called cancer life insurance, provide a payout if the policyholder receives a diagnosis of a form of cancer outlined in the policy. AIG Direct is a UK insurance provider that offers this cover, formerly named WellWoman, for female residents.

Now marketed as Cancer Cover Female, it covers seven cancers that pertain to women: breast, ovarian, uterine, fallopian tube, vulvar, and vaginal. Females select one of the four levels of cover available, which range from £25,000 Standard Cover to £100,000 Platinum Plus Cover.

This policy issues a one-off payment that can be applied to medical treatment, equipping the home to accommodate the insured, or used for any other purpose. If the insured is diagnosed with one of several early stage cancers and the condition has not spread, the policy may issue a £1,000 payment.

Included in this cover is a £50 per day hospital benefit with a £4,500 maximum. A medical helpline that operates 24 hours a day and a Care Advisory Service are among the other benefits. Applicants for this policy must be female, age 18 to 69, and UK residents.

A woman with previously diagnosed cancer, a pre-malignant tumor, or who is undergoing testing for cancer will not be approved for this plan. Cover lasts until the first premium payment due date occurring after the insured reaches age 75.

Female Cancer Patient Insurance

In 2012 in the UK, more than 160,000 females received a cancer diagnosis. This is a life-changing event that many women have difficultly handling. Cancer affects numerous areas of life and can present problems when applying for life insurance.

Our UK company provides policy quotes for females who have kidney, breast, lung, bone, cervical, or certain other types of cancer. Women who have digestive or nervous system tumors may also qualify for life cover.

When an insurance company makes an underwriting decision regarding an application for life insurance, it considers the kind of cancer that the woman has, its stage and grade, and the diagnosis date. An insurance company is not likely to issue a policy within the first two or three years of the cancer recovery period.

Since the insurance provider faces the largest amount of risk during this initial period, premiums may be quite high. Within several years, standard premiums may be available dependent upon the stage and grade of cancer that the female has.

Finding the best life insurance provider is important whether a female cancer patient wants life insurance or a woman seeks insurance cover that pays a benefit due to cancer diagnosis. Policy premium does not always determine which cover is best so women should get several quotes and compare the plan cover, terms, and conditions.

An insurance professional is available to answer questions regarding plan terms, exclusions, and the underwriting process.
